Dr. Thomas Koehler is a respected name in Michigan optometry, known for his steady leadership, deep clinical knowledge, and long-standing dedication to patient care. Raised in Warren, he graduated from Warren Lincoln High School and went on to study applied biology at Ferris State University. He was accepted early into the Michigan College of Optometry, where he graduated with honors in 1987, earning distinctions as Senior Clinician of the Year and recipient of the Contact Lens Study Award. In 2009, he was named to the Guide to America’s Top Optometrists.
Throughout his career, Dr. Koehler worked in both ophthalmological and commercial settings, where he became widely recognized for his expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses — particularly for patients with keratoconus, high astigmatism, or complex prescriptions. His diagnostic insight earned him the trust of colleagues and specialists alike, with consistent referrals to cataract, corneal, LASIK, oculoplastic, glaucoma, and retinal care providers.
Dr. Koehler joined Normandy Optical later in his career and quickly became a valued part of the team. His patience, precision, and deeply personal approach to care earned him the loyalty of countless patients over the years — many of whom followed him throughout his professional journey.
Dr. Koehler retired in 2024 to spend more time with his family. His legacy continues to be felt across Normandy Optical’s network, where his commitment to patient-first care still guides the work we do every day.
