What Is Intense Pulsed Light for Dry Eyes?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is a dry eye treatment that can help reduce eyelid inflammation and improve dry eye symptoms. It is the first and only IPL treatment FDA-approved for the management of dry eye disease due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

MGB occurs when the meibomian glands fail to provide enough meibum. This can be triggered by various factors and causes the tear film to evaporate quicker, making the eyes feel dry and uncomfortable. MGD is the most common cause of dry eye disease, causing about 80% of cases. Intense Pulsed Light for dry eyes counteracts the obstruction or malfunction of the meibomian glands by unclogging the oils needed to keep eyes moisturized and comfortable.
